What are your favorite books/authors? Share your personal fav list and get someone hooked on a "new" author!

Personally, I'm relatively new to the paranormal genre but some of the authors I keep my eyes peeled for are:

Michele Bardsley, MaryJanice Davidson, JR Ward, Linsay Sands, Dakota Cassidy, Charlaine Harris and Madelyn Alt. There are more, of course, but that's just a slice. Some of my non-paranormal favs are: Dana Stabenow, Charlaine again (she's got a few different series out), JD Robb, PJ Tracey, James Patterson, Jeffrey Deaver, Jeff Lindsay (writes the Dexter series that's also on HBO), Linda Barnes....again, this list could go on for awhile.

So spill.....who are your favorites?

I just finshed reading books 1 -4 of Rachel Caines Morganville Vampires and I have gotta say I just love them.
My list is pretty similar to yours for paranormals. Man do I HAVE to make a list?
My favorites of the moment are Kelley Armstrong, Patricia Briggs and Carrie Vaughn. Oh, Jim Butcher, too. Those four I'll eventually buy just about anything they write. :D
Richelle Mead, Kelley Armstrong, Kim Harrison, Dakota Cassidy, Charlaine Harris, Laurell K Hamilton, Mark Henry, Kat Richardson, Michele Bardsley, Keri Arthur, Anton Strout, Jeanine Frost.

Those are just to name a few. I'm still picking my way through a 180 book TBR pile, over half of which is paranormal/urban fantasy
My 2 favorites right now are
Linda Wisdom: Bk 1. 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover, Bk 2. Hex Appeal
Nancy Haddock: Bk La Vida Vampire
I'm pretty much into Mary J.'s "Undead" series right now. Her Betsy Taylor character is a riot. I can't WAIT for the next book to come out.
Casey Daniels' Pepper Martin Mysteries

1. Don of the Dead
2. The Chick and the Dead
3. Tombs of Endearment
4. Night of the Loving Dead
Laurell K. Hamilton is definitely my favorite paranormal author. I would recommend her books. She has 2 series out. One of them is the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series and the other is the Merry Gentry series. She also has a collection of her short stories called Strange Candy. I have all of the books in both series, Strange Candy, and another book she wrote called Nightseer. They are all very good. If you want to check out more about her, her official website is laurellkhamilton.org
Here are some of mine and why:

Jeff Lindsay, the character's voice is the best I've come across in years, maybe ever. Dexter is a psychopath, he cannot feel things and so the way he describes other people's ordinary reactions is with utter amazement. Particularly hilarious is Dexter's description of his potty-mouthed, violent and willful sister.

JR Ward because she goes to the dark side of her characters in the most honest and unapologetic way.

James Patterson's thrillers because his chapters are sharp and short and succinct.

Nalini Singh because she is so inventive in coming up with new ideas for the paranormal genre, Angels and vampires, and she's a kiwi.

Janet Evanovich because her bounty Hunter heroine loves junk food, is a little over weight, and fumbles her way through her investigations while blowing up everything in sight. And her men are so bad, that they're really good.
Anne Rice because she was one of the first to make vamp's really sexy and bad and yet also good. And she shocked me writing as Anne Rocquelaire (sp). Plus heaps more.
My favorite paranormal romance books...
1. Night Huntress series By: Jeaniene Frost (this series is amazing!)
2. Vampire Academy By: Richelle Mead
3. Morganville Vampires By: Rachel Caine
4. The Mortal Instruments series By: Cassandra Clare
5. Sookie Stackhouse series By: Charlaine Harris

They're all must reads!
Mine are

Vampire Academy By: Richelle Mead (cannot wait for the 4th book)
The True blood Series or the sothern vampire mysteries as they are sometimes called by Charlaine Harris (I am only two in but I love them)
City of Bones the first book in the e Mortal Instruments trilogy by Cassandra Clarey I will be getting the other two for sure

These are all must reads
Not in any order - but books that I have not been able to put down!
