The Blood Bank

We'd like to make a withdrawal

I want everybody to start their thread discussion with Do you believe...then state something to provoke a response.

Here's mine: Do you believe we are alone in this solar system, galaxy, universe?

My Response: This solar system perhaps, this galaxy maybe, this universe not likely. I think it's hubris to think there is no other life forms on another planet in a galaxy far, far, away. But do I believe in little green men, no. I think the basic elements of life don't vary all that much from galaxy to galaxy and therefore life would look similar on other worlds. What do you think?

I don't believe we are alone in this solar system. What I do believe is there is a higher intelligent being out there somewhere that exists in maybe another plane or dimention. There are just too many unexplained occurances out there for me to believe we are alone. Would it be crazy to think maybe we (humans)are an experiment for these higher beings. It's scarry to think that but it could explain the chaos around us. Sorry I'm a huge science nerd. LOL!

I'm a knowledge nerd and refuse to believe that in the immensity of this universe and others that we are a mere accident. Meteorites that have landed in the past have the same components as natural rocks on earth, it just doesn't make sense to think in green men.

I don't believe in green men either lol but a higher being possibly. It was just a thought about the possibilities of what if we are not the most intelligent life form out there.

Hey Terri
Thanks for inviting me to this discussions.
Do I believe were in the solar system? I have to be honest no, I dont. Theres nothing that proves or better yet that convinces me that theres more out there. I hear and read lots of stories, but they all sound too fake and dumb that it just makes me laugh.
Sorry! :(

You raise an interesting point, about all the fakes. Hydrogen is everywhere, Oxygen is everywhere, presumably carbon is also so...

Okay, let’s say that it's a given that there are other intelligent life forms in the universe. Just on a logical, rational basis alone, it makes sense that we must have other life forms somewhere. But where do we go from there? Do we give any credence to the Close Encounters theory - that we are and always have been visited on a regular basis by these other beings and that some of us have even been kidnapped by these other life forms and taken aboard their spacecraft for examination and testing, and then returned to earth with their memory of the experience erased.

A lot of people claim to have experienced this. They claim to have proof. But the fact remains that I have not seen any proof, and no one I know has ever seen it either. So where does that leave us? Well as far as I'm concerned, we acknowledge the existence of other intelligent life forms and we may have even been visited by them, but I seriously doubt we have ever had any direct contact with them. I'm pretty sure Captain Kirk's Prime Directive is probably still in force. So what do you think?

I'm with you there are all kinds of factors to consider. Did these other world evolve on our time frame and if so what's the likelihood that they would have sufficient technology to visit us? IF they had the same time frame to evolve. Then there is an expanded evolutionary time frame, maybe they had an extra century or two to develop space technology. Would they have the technology to make people forget? Or if they are carbon based life forms like us, why the heck would they experiment on us? Let's say for arguments sake they have a thousand years of technology to develop "superior" space technology wouldn't we have been conquered by now?

I don't believe in little green men and alien abductions, however I also don't believe that we are the only populated planet in the trillions of possible planets, galaxies, universes, etc. That would mean we were an accident of evolution, I just can't believe that we are a mutation.

This is a good discussion. I also do not so much believe in the little green men, but like you've said, the Universe is infinite, and I highly doubt we are the only intelligent lifeforms in it.

As for the abductions, who really knows. I once had a discussion similar to this in high school. Maybe we are experiments for another life form? And the abductions are information gathering?

But then that also begs the question if we are a lesser life form why haven't we been conquered?

Excellent Point! How come we haven't been conquered if aliens have been gathering data for something like 50 years? Do you or any one else know what is the elemental composition of planets, moons, etc? Whether or not they are habitable I'm pretty sure they are comprised of the same elements here on earth so why would we be any different than these supposed little green men? I don't know about you but I've seen near doubles of people all over the world and they weren't related. That implies that there is a finite number of DNA combinations, I'm just saying...
